Hi, I’m “The Singing Nurse”, I''ve been working with children for over 30 years and I have been a Nurse since 1995. I love music and enjoy communicating healthy living in a fun and educational way. I like teaching simple health concepts while integrating music and movement. Currently I work with children and families in our church, I still do nursing and I am the "Music and Motion" special at an Early Childhood Learning Center.
I’ve been married to a musician and pastor for 30 + years. We’ve been making music together since meeting in the early 70’s. We have three great kids, and our last one just left the nest in August. The musical adventure of "The Singing Nurse" started in 2000 when I taught Head Start children simple health concepts or prepared them for visits with the local Audiologist or Dentist. It was a natural way for me to communicate with these little ones since we both loved and related to music and movement. The young elementary aged kids at our church also enjoyed the songs when we did an 8-week series on Psalm 139, God knows all about us. We integrated health themes, self-care and God’s care. The songs can be used in both public health, educational settings or in your house of worship. Most of the tunes were written and recorded using my Yamaha S90 keyboard. I’m having a blast and happy to spread the health message found in these tunes. I am also excited about the future goal of animating some of these songs.
Plans are also underway to produce a book with words and motions.
