Sky Zito - about the artist
Sky Zito has played throughout the U.S. In various original and cover acts ranging from solo acoustic gigs to full scale rock shows. He has played as a session musician in countless projects involving both local and national acts in Boston, New York and L.A. He studied at Berklee College of Music and has personal letters of recommendation from Joe Stump (World Renowned rock guitarist/head chair Berklee faculty, as well Mark Baxter (voice instructor, author of “The Rock-N-Roll Singer''s Survival Manual.” Although best known as a guitarist, Sky also plays drums, bass, and sings. Thanks to the magic of recording, all of his music his performance on every instrument.
Sky has been teaching guitar and music theory lessons for the past eight years. He has taught over 250 students as well as written a book connecting music theory to the fretboard entitled “Eternal Creation: A Guitarists Gateway to Songwriting.” He is currently residing in the L.A. Area.
My Kind of Pretty - about the album:
“My Kind of Pretty” is the commercial debut from artist Sky Zito. The seven-song album showcases Sky playing every instrument in an eclectic mix of original music. The opening track entitled “Visions of You” features heartfelt lyrics matched with compelling vocal harmonies and tasteful lead guitar work. The second track entitled “So Much” is a beautiful instrumental composition driven by an acoustic lead guitar. The many memorable melodies and general feel produced by the djembe drum circle make this song an uplifting stand out piece. “Twisted Smile” goes all out, pulling no punches, in a shred fueled heavy rocking instrumental. The melodic lead harmonies lead the listener to a jaw dropping double timed crescendo, a song surely to win over the hearts of guitar fans everywhere. “Dirty Dog” offers a gritty, cool vibe. The lyrics are fun and the groove is slinky and sexy. It hints at classic rock while adding a modern twist. “Song of Sadness” and “Lonely Inside” both showcase the timeless combination of acoustic guitar and vocals, both of these tracks are live recordings putting forth honesty, and soulful emotion brought out by the dynamics and freedom of playing in the moment. The final track is a progressive rock piece entitled “Mysticism”. The unique arrangement of this instrumental combines clever rhythmic curves with explosive lead guitar playing. “My Kind of Pretty” is an excellent album with an unusual amount of depth and individuality. This is a must have disc for music lovers of all genres.
