A little about me

Lying on a bed with hi fi speakers either side of your head is probably not the best thing for your hearing, especially when you are only 7 years old. This however is my earliest memory of listening to electronic music. My elder brother John had bought Jean Michel Jarre''s ''Oxygene'' and was letting me hear the fantastic ''zappy laser sounds'' in Oxygene 2. Eleven years later I bought my first synth and sequencer, a Roland D10 and Alesis MMT8. My fascination for making music, electronic music, was born.

Lasers, robots, and sparkly pants!

When I first started producing tracks (circa 1992, around the age of 19) my sound was influenced by artists / bands such as Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, OMD, Erasure, and Depeche Mode. By mid 1996 I uploaded some of my music onto my university servers for potential fans to hear. ''Durrel'' was picked up by members of the JMJarre list and word soon spread that there was a new guy out there making electronic music. I started my own online label and sold my music via the web. I was gonna become a dot com millionaire .....well maybe not.

Too much of a good thing

As time progressed and other influences took hold, mainly house and trance music, my sound changed. Not everyone who liked my early material liked the new work I was producing, so I used aliases to indicate this.

Kaleid was my initial recording name, used for the Jarre / Erasure / Depeche Mode influenced work. Later Andy Vask''El was to be my name for my more club friendly tracks, later becoming Electrovoya in early 2004 with English producer Greg Murray.

2004 and 2005 saw Electrovoya release three 12" records on Fundamental Recordings, and for a while things were good. We watched 15,000 clubbers dancing to our first release ''Whispers'' at a Gatecrasher arena event and later see DJ Tiesto (then the no 1 DJ in the world) play ''Effervesce'' to 30,000 clubbers in a converted football stadium. ''Whispers'' eventually got to no 3 in the Dutch dance charts. Creating only one style of music for so long was proving to be tiresome however, so Greg and I both agreed to take a break from Electrovoya just as Fundamental Recordings were bought by United to concentrate on other projects.

By late 2006 it was all becoming a bit confusing with all these names floating about so I decided to put out music via this website using my own name, Andy Hagerty. Some of my work may be chilled out, some may be effervescent electropop, and some may be euphoric trance anthems, but hopefully, all of it will be worth listening too, regardless of what music you are into.

Enjoy!
