Details:
Nicolas has cut three albums for Right Groove Records, his own imprint. The first, 1998''s “Crossing the Line”, and the 2004 follow-up “All About Love” are treasured by Jazz and Soul lovers throughout the US and abroad.

"Live At Yoshi''s-A Salute to Lou", the third and most recent release, is a salute to the late Lou Rawls. Recorded in October of 2007, this electric, live recording at Oakland, California''s famed Yoshi''s Jazz House is stirring up old and new fans alike.

Nicolas is a founding member of Bobby McFerrin’s world renowned and innovative a cappella vocal ensemble, “Voicestra” (since the late 80''s), and is an internationally recognized recording artist and performer in his own right. Nicolas also maintains a busy sideline as an actor for stage, screen and television and as a voice-over artist.

The new Right Groove Records recording, "Live At Yoshi''s-A Salute to Lou”, showcases Bearde''s engaging stage persona and the audience’s enthusiastic reception on this magical night. Nicolas’ performances are unique in their unpredictability and humor. Born out of his ease on stage and improvisational background with McFerrin’s Voicestra and its spin-off, SoVoSò, anything can-and often does happen in these popular shows. Monologues and stories are frequently crafted spontaneously and arrangements, tempos and moods can change at a moments notice.

Nicolas started the Right Groove Records label in 1998 to launch his solo recordings. First off the press was “Crossing the Line”. A superb showcase for Nicolas'' songwriting skills as well as his masterful singing, it landed in the Top 10 on British Soul charts, garnering glowing reviews on both sides of the Atlantic.

In 2004 Bearde produced the follow-up, “All About Love”, with a more unabashedly romantic repertoire, which was added to, both soul and jazz radio formats nationally and Beach Music play lists throughout the Southeast. His original tune “Summer Sunday”, hit #1 on the Beach Music charts for 8 weeks running in the summer of 2005.

“Live at Yoshi''s - A Salute to Lou”, is an outgrowth of the “Tribute to Lou Rawls” show that Nicolas has been presenting around the country, which showcases many of Rawls'' most popular songs. The recording features a dynamic quartet headed by saxophonist, Charles McNeal, pianist, Glenn Pearson, bassist, Nelson Braxton and drummer, Jason Lewis. Long-time collaborators all, these fellows seriously “cook” on-stage as well as in the studio.

Recorded by drummer and jazz radio legend Bud Spangler and his great audio team, this set captures a historical night at one of the countries most respected jazz venues.
