Corinne Marcus’s interest in music began as a child with her love of dance; as a young woman she danced professionally in both New York and San Francisco. Her passion for rhythm naturally drew her into drumming and other forms of musical expression. She played percussion and sang vocals on three CDs released by The Flying Other Brothers. With this band, Corinne frequently performed for Democratic Presidential candidate and environmental advocate Al Gore at northern California fundraisers and other music festivals. Marcus lives and performs in the San Francisco Bay Area; “Acrobat” is her first solo album.
“Acrobat” features the moody vocals of Corinne Marcus: in these ten songs, she glides on the trapeze of love, spins loop-de-loops through political critiques, and balances on the tightrope between nostalgia and self-discovery. She is supported by a cadre of stellar musicians, including her husband Larry Marcus on drums. Co-conspirators on this CD include: Robert Berry, formerly with Ambrosia and ELP, Cole Tate of the Cole Tate Band, and Winter Sichelschmidt of Pandemonaeon. Also contributing to the songs on this CD are: pianist Pete Sears from Hot Tuna and Jefferson Starship, bassist Bill Bennett from The Flying Other Brothers, Tina Blaine of 90s femme tech rock band, D’Cuckoo, guitarist Nick Peters of Seconds on End, and bassist, Scott Derringer. This acrobatic performance was performed entirely without nets or trained animal assistants.
