She was born in Malang, Indonesia and moved to Rochester, New York when she was eight. Growing up in a musical family (both her dad and mom were opera singers) gave her an appreciation for good music at an early age. At 18, she moved to California to pursue a degree in fashion design, but everything changed one year later, when she met her first love and best friend Jesus! She joined a college and career group one month later, became their worship leader and that is when her passion for worship began.
Three years later, she joined a Vineyard church and was eventually invited to be the congregational worship leader for a new church plant. In 2000, she entered into a season of personal worship revival and eight months later, more than eighty worship songs were written. Then, in 2005, the Lord opened a door for her to do an album. One month after the album was completed, she did a series of worship concerts in Indonesia for the Vineyard Indonesian Partnership that fundamentally changed her life forever! Not only did God answer 11 of her lifelong prayers in that trip, but what she experienced there completely transformed and opened her eyes to the truth that, “… The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” – Matt. 9:37.
The greatest blessing from that life-changing trip came to her when the Indonesian Partnership was able to purchase a piece of land with proceeds from her album sales. They bought the land for a Vineyard church in West Kalimantan. This good news was overwhelming to her because she never expected God to do such a grand thing through simple songs that came out of her private worship times.
Currently, she lives in California with her husband Russ and her two children Briana and Jonathan, and they belong to the Anaheim Vineyard church. kiemi serves as the Vineyard Indonesian Partnership Worship Development Specialist for Indonesia and loves training, coaching, empowering and mentoring the next generation of kingdom leaders! Extremely driven by her passion to minister the heart of God through song, she continually longs for God to use her to save the lost, bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free!
