MP3 Kilrush - Keltoi Anam

A stirring collection of Celtic songs and tunes by Kilrush.

10 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Celtic, FOLK: Irish Traditional

Details:
3500 miles separate us from the land of our forefathers. Kilrush is a place in our hearts as much as it is solid ground on Ireland’s rocky shore. For us there is no distance, only a ripple in time that prevents our feet from traversing those hills. Until we are reunited, we will play the music of Her soul and live by the principles of our ancestors: That all are equal, possessing neither status nor rank over another and peace is shared in our unity.

The title Keltoi Anam , is a reflection of “Celtoi”, the name the Greeks first used to describe the fiercely nomadic, creative, tribal warrior clans they met, which came to be known as the Celts. Anam is the Gaelic word for ‘soul’: Celtic Soul.

Our special thanks and sheer amazement to our friend, executive producer, and recording wizard Matt D’Ortona, without whom this CD would not have been possible. Thanks Matt...we owe you some beer!! Thanks to graphic artist John O’Connell for our Celtic wolf, lovingly restored from a grainy copy of the historical original. To our very enthusiastic and supportive friends and fans…. this is for all of you!!! We hope you enjoy it as much as we have in bringing it to you!!!

This is our second CD in little more than six years, and the voyage has proven very rewarding. Tracks on “Keltoi Anam” were selected to reflect where we are along this musical path. “Friends and Companions”, one of our favorite tunes to end a show, is placed here first to invite a spirit of companionship and good craic. “Leaving of Liverpool”, “Drinkin’ the Night Away”, “Haul Away Joe/Drunken Sailor” and “Queen of Argyll” reflect our style and the energy we feel for our live pub and festival shows. “Back Home in Derry”, an experimental track, was recorded in sessions months apart, with lead guitar riffs laid down by Tim Sanphy on Matt’s Gibson Custom. “Madigan’s Follies”, played by Tim Madigan, was recorded an MR8 in Tim S.’s dining room!

“The Green Fields of Rossbeigh/The New Policeman” is a unique set of tunes we found on Kevin Crawford’s “’d’ flute album”: Dirk plays the melody on a beautiful low C flute that he made and Tim S. plays on a self-built 10 string cittern, with Chris Sherwood on congas. “She moves through the Fair/Wind that Shakes the Barley” is a set we have honed since first playing together; the instrumental arrangement was written by Tim S. some 20 years ago, added to by Dirk on his custom made Terry McGee blackwood Irish flute. “Sonny’s Mazurka” was originally recorded for our first CD but never made it on.

Kilrush is: Tim Madigan-Harmonicas, Whistle, Vocals, Bodhran. Tim Sanphy-Guitar, Cittern, Lead vocals. Chris Sherwood-Guitar, Bodhran, Djembe, Congas, Vocals. Dirk Sears-Flute, Whistle, Bodhran, Vocals. Visit us on the web at https://www.tradebit.com or https://www.tradebit.com as well as by phone at 607 426-3284

**We dedicate this CD to our fathers: Steve Madigan, Tim Sanphy Sr., Walt Sears, Hal Sherwood whom, without their perseverance, we would not be here.
