Paper Scissors is a drums, keys, guitar trio from Fairbanks, Alaska. Influenced by a wide variety of existing artists, they pride themselves on a simple artistic mission-statement: to make the people dance.
The music delves into many genres, at which point the energetic trio reaches down and grabs the parts they like and delicately place them together (or mash them, depending on our mood) into something new, unique, and exciting.
Craig Brookes plays guitar and sings the primary vocals. A recent graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (in Theatre:Performance, no less), Craig enjoys philosophy, existentialism, and being otherwise enigmatic or intellectual, usually accompanied by a knowing grin. He fully intends to play music the rest of his life, regardless of whether more than a couple of hundred people hear it, or enjoy it, or whether it makes him any money whatsoever. Craig is also the primary lyricist for Paper Scissors, but has recently begun collaborating in song-writing with....
Isaac Paris is a nomadic, idiosyncratic, and ultimately pro-democratic quirky influence upon Paper Scissors'' home-grown garage band sound. A fan of dada, pop art, influential German philosophers, and his accordion, Isaac brings a (mostly) controlled chaos to his musical sensibilities. Playing the organ, synthesizer, accordion, theremin, piano, or more recently, the bass, Isaac''s fervent musical attack upon the listener''s ears is matched only by his energy and stage presence. Ryan Schmidt is a no good hippie rock-climbin'', jam-band-listenin'', photo takin'' drum basher. Originally an adept and captivating hand drummer, Ryan decided to slap some skins for Paper Scissors and channel some of his inner rage about the current political climate and the rape of the environment in a productive manner. A rabid skier, Ryan wishes only to be left alone on the powder at the top of a mountain, at the base of which he be allowed to play drums as hard and as fast as he can for three hours straight.
All three rabid left-wing college graduates, Paper Scissors makes for a smart and entertaining musical act... and one that''s in it for the long haul, whether you read their bio or not.
