The singer/songwriter''s deep and provocative lyrics flow perfectly with the ultra-fabulous production of Jerome "Grande" Mereigh. Through her dark, smooth vocals in "Blowin'' Up," we experience the story of an abused girl who becomes a strong independent woman. The bass heavy, "1 and the Same," switches from breathy, purring vocals to Penelope--surprisingly in her element--rapping. "Bright Eyes," a Debbie Harry-like track, features fun claps and chanting that flirts with rhythmic chants of cheerleaders. The song is a message to a friend, telling her not to take life so seriously and to stop being so dramatic and sums up Penelope''s own philosophy. "My whole attitude is about having fun," she says. "This album gave me the opportunity to write and sing about my life experiences, both positive and negative, in an upbeat way." Now Penelope looks forward to getting her material out there and performing for the public. In the past she has performed at New York City hotspots like Crash Mansion, the Cutting Room, Fez, the Underscore, CBGB, the Bitter End, the Lion''s Den, and Madison Square Garden, as well as various sponsored radio events.
