Details:
Richard Treece is best known for his work with the legendary 70''s London band, Help Yourself. Richard''s distinctive fluid style perfectly complimented Malcolm Morley''s delicate songs. When the Helps folded in 1974, Malcolm and bassist, Ken Whaley were asked to join label mates, Man. With this band of Welsh Wizards, they recorded Rhinos Winos And Lunatics, and toured the UK and US.

Meanwhile, Richard was drafted to join the touring version of the Neutrons, a band formed by the two members of Man that Ken and Malcolm had replaced. Unfortunately the Neutrons didn''t last much longer, and Ricky never recorded with them. He did add the blazing one take solo on Sean Tyla''s Texas Chain Saw Massacre Boogie, which was the first release on the Stiff Record label. This bit of pre-punk pub rock is still one of the best bits heard on the label that launched Elvis Costello, Ian Dury and Nick Lowe. Sean Tyla had been part of the Help Yourself commune for a while, before he was abandon on the side of the road after some sort of disagreement!

The next stop in Richard''s musical wandering was the Flying Aces. Martin Ace had spent time in Man and Deke Leonard''s Iceberg... are you starting to see a pattern here? At this point the Flying Aces included Phil Ryan from the Neutrons and Micky Gibbon''s late of Badfinger. When this collapsed, Richard found himself at loose ends. It wouldn''t be until the early 90''s when Richard and Ken Whaley teamed up in a new outfit called the Archers. With help from UK music scene maker, Nigel Cross, they released an EP. Soon after the band''s name was changed to Green Ray. In 1996 Richard, and Ken agreed to join the Montana based psych outfit, Donovan''s Brain, in the studio. These recordings appear on the Get Hip release Eclipse and Debris. The Brain''s Ron Sanchez returned the favor, producing the Green Ray recording of the old Help Yourself tune, Morning Song.

Green Ray have become a regular fixture around the pub London scene. They''ve released two three cds, and regularly back Barry "The Fish" Melton when he tours the UK. Their association with the guitarist from the 60''s Bay Area legends, Country Joe and the Fish dates back to the mid 70''s when Ken recorded an album with Melton. Richard maintains his membership in Donovan''s Brain. He made his US stage debut at the Seattle Terrastock Festival with the Brain. His guitar can be heard on three subsequent Brain cds, including the two on Career Records; Great Leap Forward and A Defeat Of Echoes. Through his involvement with Donovan''s Brain, Richard has also recorded and performed with the Swedish rockers, the Nomads, and Dave Walker, the well known voice of Savoy Brown.

Dream Arena East is made up of solo 4 track recording Richard has made over the years. Nigel Cross picked several of his favorites for this album. The nine tracks show off Richard''s incredible sense of melody that is a major factor in his playing. The detailed twists and turns draw you into a magical place that lives in his musical mind. This fantastic collection is one of a kind. The lyrical playing transcend the humble origins of these home recordings.
