TERRENCE CRUEL AKA “CRUEL T”
A native of New Jersey, Terrence Cruel aka “Cruel T” has a natural affinity for music. He began in the 6th grade, dabbling in rap music with a local well-known group called Young MCs. He started out in the group as a background beat boxer, but had a burning desire to pursue a music career as a solo rap artist. The group performed with many local and highly acclaimed national recording artists such as Public Enemy and XX Posse. The event that would give birth to a new revolutionized solo “MC” was the Battle of the Bands in Patterson, NJ. The group competed against thirty-three groups and won 1st place. However, because of the age restrictions, they were not able to receive the recording contract award. It was then that Cruel T emerged dramatically as a solo rap artist!
From battling on the street corners to appearing in shows with artists such as Rakim, MC Shan, and Biz Markie, Cruel T earned a well-known reputation as a hardcore rapper in the underground of New Jersey. His music reflects a real familiarity for his fans to relate to, all while being broad, full-bodied, and textured, for which he has his own original style and technique.
He is inspired by many hip-hop legends. However, his lyrical flow is most similar to Scarface and the late, great Tupac Shakur. His music speaks for itself with current tracks “Nasty Man”, “Fam 4 Life”, and “Keep it on the Low”. He is ready and poised to shock and awe the hearts of hip-hop listeners around the world and leave them asking “Who is he?” Cruel T recently completed his CD entitled “Cruel World”, which was released in early February.
Cruel T enjoys writing, producing, and performing because it gives him a chance to experiment, create, and deviate. His style of creativity allows him to connect with his audience about the reality of the streets. That’s what it’s all about and years from now, he’ll still be true to his audience and his music.
Cruel T is the founder of Cruel World Music, a company devoted to developing new artists, introducing new, original music to the world, and teaching/mentoring others who are truly passionate about music. Cruel World’s other venues include hosting networking events, promotional parties, artist production and distribution, and deejaying various events. Currently, Cruel T is working with new artists in both R&B and Rap and completing his next stunning success!
