Fresh music that soothes the soul

4 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk-Rock, ROCK: Surf Rock

Details:
Daniel Kingsbury is a 21-year old singer/songwriter from southwestern British Columbia. His music (over 160 songs to date) can be described as laid-back contemporary folk rock. Catchy melodies and lyrics, deep, smooth and soulful singing, and precise guitar playing are signatures of his sound.

The songs are fresh and new, timely and well-crafted, written in a very “strong on the basics’ storytelling style, deeply rooted in the folk music tradition. He makes the unfamiliar sound familiar as if the song you’re listening to is an old favorite, even though you’re hearing it for the first time. Each tune has distinct characters and messages and each song has a unique voice.

Daniel has performed in San Francisco, Toronto, Australia, Thailand and at countless venues in southwestern British Columbia. He made his first demo CD in 2004 and released his debut album "Caravan of Time" in August of 2007. His latest EP, "Where The Mountains Touch The Sea", was produced by Sean Cole of Fader Master Studios in Vancouver, BC and features the singles "Goodtimes Ahead" and "Come On Pretty Lady."

Daniel’s musical talents and community involvement have been recognized in the form of numerous scholarships. In his last year of high school, Daniel was the founder of a very special music project, "Waking Life Records". Daniel and a group of fellow students produced a double-disc album of original music, which was written, performed and recorded by the students. Within four months, $8000 was raised from album sales and promotional concerts. The money was donated to the Sunshine Coast Community Services Society to go towards music programming for youth.

In addition to his passion for music, Daniel is an accomplished filmmaker, having won the award for Best Film on Mountain Sports at the 2002 Banff Mountain Film Festival, for his film “The Essence of Adolescence.” He was 15 at the time and the youngest filmmaker ever, to have won an award at this international festival.
