I guess I should let you know a little about me, seems that’s the way things are done. I’m from Dublin, Ireland, the north side for anyone interested in that kind of thing. I’ve lived in the US, mainly New York the past 10 years. Got lost for most of those years as you do.
I started really writing from what i can remember when I was 14. It was just a way of venting. I kinda had a soft heart those days and found writing was a way out of life for me. I found since I started writing it was always a battle for me between what I thought was good and what it really was. Most of all it was about me not understanding my limitation and just letting them stop me. it wasn’t really till nearly two years ago that I had I guess you would call it a life changing time. it was then that I made the choice to just do no more talking, time was too short. To tackling everything i wanted to do with no regret, just passion. Success or failure, it was all mine. I found I loved the way i could make words flow, good or bad, it didn’t matter. Listening to a lot of different kinds of music growing up amazed me how artists from totally different worlds of music could come from the same place, the soul if you brake it down. I was fascinated by what made them write what happened what made those feeling come up so strong that they had to write it down. I always loved the songwriters, not the singers. It was the writers life that created the words and i just wanted to know more.
Being from a family of seven kids, I was exposed to different tastes in music through my life growing up in Ireland. It’s this which gave me a chance to understand what I liked, what touched me and what was possible in expressing your feelings in words all in all I felt. I could write with a freedom, a way of saying what was in my head aloud or at least on paper. It didn’t matter if anyone heard it. It didn’t matter once I respected it. the same applies for “November.” It’s just my limitations and all no guards for me. I like the idea of people getting their own ideas of what a song is about and letting it fit where it may.
I find it’s all about finding what you want to say and writing it. Words should come straight from the heart and flow gently to the soul. If they leave a mark then thats fine but the most important thing is that they lived for a moment. What you felt was alive for a moment. “November” is the first time I’m opening up a part of me that not many know. Like it or not its written and if you listened to it, it lived for that moment and i thank you for that.
