FAUVE－EX is Tsuyoshi Satake''s solo unit( yes ,it''s me).
I wrote all music ,and performed & recorded , mixed.
In this album, track1&9 are FAUVE''s main style, if you want to know "What is FAUVE-EX''s original style?", those
2 tracks will answer you.
In good and bad both meanings, those tracks show FAUVE-EX''s style most.
In this album, half tracks are power tunes ( the 2 typical "FAUVY" tunes are this side)and the other half tracks are calm tunes.
Track 2(power tune) is mid tempo heavy tune.
Not like track1&9, but this track is strongly "FAUVY".
It was hard to decide whitch track should be opening track, "KARMA DRIVE" or "BURST CITY DRIFTER".
To say frank, "BURST" is better quality than "KARMA" I think, but "KARMA" has more strong originality.
So I chose "KARMA" , but this track can be called "another opening track".
Track 3(power tune) was originally inspired from Japanese famous SF MANGA "AKIRA".
I wrote this song as "destroyed future city''s party music".
In the center of NEO-TOKYO, nuculear bomb class explosion happend, and NEO-TOKYO became ruin,
then some declared the founding of DAI-TOKYO-TEIKOKU(great tokyo empire).
They plan to have national ceremony to cheer people, and in the future city''s ruin ,live performance are acted.
When I read this scene, I thought "what is the coolest music in this situation?".
Electricity is just barely restored, equipments are not enough ,,,, I thought that the band must be 1or2 electric guitars and percussion and vocal.
So when I wrote this song, my theme was "how to write cool power tune with such a limitation".
By the way, I heard that Hollywood makes this MANGA into a film, and Leonardo DiCaprio is producer of the film.
Mr DiCaprio, if you want to use this track, I always welcome!
Track 4(calm tune) was inspired from TV program which picked up street musicians in Paris subway.
Artist who lives in 2070''s future world and deeply despairs , I arrenged this track as such an image.
But especially this track , it requires more better singer.
Track 5(calm tune) is originally guitar part(left channel part) and vocal only.
Still so simple now, but one of my favorites, I may love this track''s simplicity.
Track 6(calm tune) , I tried to write swing jazz-like theme and arrenged as David Bowie''s album "LOW"-like.
Track 7(calm tune), this track has probably most romantic mood in this album, and there''s no doubt about influence from David Sylvian''s early solo works.
Track 8(power tune) is inspired from the movie "VELVET GOLDMINE".
I had not heard "TV EYE" before,and when I heard the song in the movie, I was impressed and thought
"If FAUVE have 8 beat rock''n''roll song which specialized to dance music function, it''s gonna be so cool ".
And this song was born.
Originaｌｌy this track was called "8-BEAT REPLICANT".
Lyrics are inspired from "BLADE RUNNER", self destractive andoroids runnung through the midnight with rock''n''roll beat, sound of destiny.
The lyrics may also remind you of rock star''s rise&fall.
Track 10(calm tune) is a only instrumental tune in this album, and you can find Ryuichi Sakamoto''s influence.
There''s track 11, but it''s a short version made for promotion, so actual last number of this album is track 10.
As I wrote above, this album does not have united same form, some are ethno-infuluenced power tunes ,some are calm electric tunes,
mid tempo heavy tune, acoustic tune also exists.
But still this album has strong common tone, I think.
Like David Bowie''s album "HEROES" also has.
Some kind of music reminds you of particular place ,country , city.
But FAUVE-EX''s sound image is more imaginary world-like, it will not reminds you of any real world''s particular cities ,like TOKYO.
It is just like trad music of the another world which has higher civilization and never exists.
