MP3 Four Dimensional Nightmare - Ramblings From A Troubled Universe

Hypnotic and abrasive alternative metal.

15 MP3 Songs
METAL/PUNK: Alternative Metal, ELECTRONIC: Acid Techno

Details:
I’m the only member of Four Dimensional Nightmare – something that is possible these days thanks to these multi-track recording gadgets they’ve come up with. So I can put together music with guitars, basses, keyboards, drums – hell, even a harmonica or two – and make it sound like a whole band. Which is what I do. So if you like my music, please heap upon me praise and expensive gifts, and rush out to tell your friends, family and casual acquaintances to rush out and purchase my music. You can hear additional tracks not on the CD at my website - https://www.tradebit.com.

About the music:

Awhile back, I started thinking about all the kinds of music I like – industrial, metal (not the Quiet Riot shit from the 80s, but modern metal like System of a Down), techno, electronica, gothic and punk, to name several. And I noticed that many of these “genres,” for lack of a better word, didn’t share many characteristics in most cases. Most techno bands wouldn’t know a power chord from a hole in the ground. Most punk bands have never been within 50 feet of a synthesizer, unless they wander into the wrong section of Guitar Center. So I started attempting to write songs that incorporated some of these genres that you don’t often find in the same song. For the most part, I think this effort has been successful.

I like musicians who experiment, and do it well. Much of today’s “experimental” music is a big glob of noise that makes no sense and makes you want to kick the dog, and that’s not what I mean. I’m thinking of bands like the Talking Heads and Sonic Youth, who looked into the vastness of space and found ways of writing music that had never been done before. And did it very very well. I like to think that much of what I write is experimental. Sometimes my song turns left when you expected it to turn right. Sometimes you hear a synthesizer when you expected a guitar, or vice-versa. Sometimes harmonicas appear out of nowhere in the midst of an industrial riff. And so on and so forth. I just hope that you’ll enjoy what I’m trying to do, and I think that you will.

About the words:

I don’t write songs about love. I’ve been in love, I’ve been married, and it is a crazy and complicated topic. But I think it’s already been covered from just about every angle it can and I just don’t go there. I write songs about the Gnostic religion, alternate realities, multiple universes, time travel, the Northern Lights, the end of the world, other dimensions and things like that. I find this much more satisfying and hopefully somewhat more interesting to the people who listen to it. I also write a lot of instrumentals – about 35 percent of my songs feature no singing at all (those who hate my voice can stand up and cheer here). Sometimes my music just doesn’t lend itself well to vocals and rather than force something in there that doesn’t fit, I’d rather just let it be what it is.

People who are interested in System of a Down Joy Division should consider this download.
