Details:
"Everybody WIns" is the 2nd album from growing Venice legend, The Hard Goodbye. Born in Venice, CA under the leadership of artist/carpenter/songwriter Matthew Benware, The Hard Goodbye has continued their evolution on this sophomore (by definition only) album. The arrangements are even more lush than their eponymous debut, yet the tone is just as biting while the lyrics range from whimsical to ravenous. Filling out the current lineup is Matthew Benware (gtr, vox) from the windy suburbs of Chicago, Spencer Watson Jr. (bass/bgv), hailing from the mean streets of (mostly) Wilmington, DE and Paul Copley (drums/perc), of idyllic Missoulah, MT...all brought to you via the jungle of Los Angeles, CA. Washington''s own Ethan Walter also contributed heavily with additional guitar and keyboards, bringing his version of "The Seattle Sound". These guys are quite simply all over the map.

Recognized for their unique abilities, THG was happy to have Kingsize Soundlabs put in extra production hours under the guidance and contributions of Harry and Dave Trumfio (Pulsars, Light FM) and engineer Andrew Lynch (Earlimart, The Poor Excuses). The album features many guests and instruments outside the typical rock record...including a real horn section, a real trumpet solo, real violin (thanks to a member of LA''s infamous "The Section Quartet"), real steel drums, real triangle, and all sorts of modern and vintage, electric and acoustic noisemakers. As Paul Copley says, "keep it real", and they did. Oh, and there''s also a guest appearance by Michael Jost of Sugarbitch where he plays a custom made "Assvibe Guitar". What more do you want?

Many bands have sprung from the shores of LA''s beaches, but The Hard Goodbye may be as enigmatic and aesthetically refined as any of them, from The Doors to critically acclaimed Swillpro labelmates The Happy Casualties. I certainly think so, but don''t ask me....I''m in the band. I know too much, things I can''t write. To keep it real these guys are out there living the dream daily, on the edge of sanity and on the brink of legitimacy...past their sophomore years and refining their taste for blood in a dying industry. One listen to either of their notorious KXLU (LMU''s FM station) live appearances lets you know this band is as real as it is iconic. Buy this record and get to know this band. You won''t regret it.

-Spencer Watson, Jr.
