Born in new york city and raised in the island of puerto rico, this young and upcoming christian music artist has focused on reaching out to the general public to share his music, songs and passion for latin gospel. Following his father’s footsteps, whom had been a musician in new york city during the sixties and seventies, israel always showed special interest for playing music due to his father’s influence of latin music. Growing up on the east coast side of the island, in the town of humacao, israel began to work his way into the music field by enrolling in a local music school (escuela libre de musica juan ponce de leon) where he learned to play the trombone, drums, latin percussion and also became a member of the school choir. His first oportunity to join a professional band or group came with the world known salsero jerry rivera at the tender age of 16 as a timbalero for this orchestra in 1990. In the following years he toured with the band to panama and appeared on many tv, concerts and special events throughout the island. In 1993 he joined the international orchestra of pedro conga with whom he traveled extensively across latin america and the united states. In 1996, while living in new jersey, he was invited to aris martinez y su combinacion orchestra, a new york city based band which turned out to be his last popular music participation. Finally, after 5 years of playing latin music as a timbalero, israel became a born again christian in 1997. In 2002, he started his first solo recording but this time as a lead singer and percussionist. The album was released in 2004 (llueve sobre la tierra jehova) which has allowed him to tour canada, panama, guatemala and the us for concerts, special events and church presentations. In 2008 israel returns with te doy mi corazon, his second recording for the indie label gfg music, which includes songs of praise with different elements of latin, funk, reggae, timba, r & b, gospel, salsa and the contemporary sounds of soft worship. This musical blend has come to be known as christiantimba, a fusion of latin rhythems and the traditional american music trends.
