Details:
Gabe Wright was born and raised in Lima, Ohio. He showed enthusiasm for music at a very early age but never seriously considered picking up the guitar. At the age of 13, a friend asked Gabe if he wanted to learn guitar and join his band. Gabe began to learn and play, and at the request of the drummer, joined the band as the sole guitarist. Months later, Gabe and the drummer, Ian Murphy, split from the group. The two began rehearsing in Gabe''s basement, playing only Nirvana, Silverchair, and Offspring cover songs. The simple lineup was Ian on drums and Gabe on guitar/vocals. They honed their skills, playing together for a year. They gathered a collection of songs to play two gigs, which payed a $20 gift certificate and all the hamburgers they could eat. Somehow the two drifted musically apart, while still playing together in school bands. Later, Gabe joined a metal band for a short while before realizing that he couldn''t form the band he wanted in Lima, Ohio.
Gabe began writing original songs at the age of 16. He recorded two CD''s of original music, each of which he played guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and sang the vocals. Gabe graduated from Lima Senior High School in 2000 at the age of 18, and then moved to Boston to begin attending Berklee College of Music. He majored in Songwriting and eventually formed a rock band called "The Militia," which consisted of Jon Francis on drums, Matt Diekman on bass, and Gabe on guitar/vocals; all Berklee students. The Militia played Gabe''s original songs with the motto of "Bring Back the Rock!" Later Jon left the band and was replaced on drums by Gabe''s friend and roommate, Kevin Diquisto, who was also a Berklee student. Gabe also joined a metal band as the lead guitarist and https://www.tradebit.com band was called "Shattered Existence" and was also made up of friends and roommates who were Berklee students. From January 2003 to March 2004, the militia and Shattered Existence played weekly across the northeast and into New York City. It was during this time that Gabe wrote most of his songs and began plans for his first new CD in four years.
In 2004, at the age of 22, Gabe Wright graduated from Berklee College of Music with a bachelor of music degree in Songwriting. Gabe spent the summer teaching in New Milford, Conn. at the National Guitar Workshop, a summer camp for guitarists and musicians alike. He enjoyed working on the NGW facuilty while working on the completion of his CD. The CD, titled "I''m Not Who I Am," was completed and released in early August. All the songs on "I''m Not Who I Am" were written, arranged and mixed by Gabe. In addition to that he sang all the vocals, played nearly all the guitar parts, played all the keyboard parts, and even played bassguitar and drums on a few songs. He also produced most of it, engineered most of it, and had a hand in the CD artwork(all the writing on the CD case is Gabe''s handwriting, even the credits are scribblings done one night over a drink). At the end of August 2004, Gabe moved from Boston, MA to Nashville, TN. As a songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer, engineer, and just a well rounded musician, Gabe Wright hopes for success in his new home.
