Rens Newland with his sensational band "Brassbabies & Rhythmkids" (a.o. Thomas Kugi-sax, Werner Feldgrill-b, Gerald Preinfalk-sax) sets milestones again! Like he did with "Ostinato", "Electrio" or "Enfant Terrible". In a very original and exciting way the CD deals with simple children melodies. By the excentric and modern arrangements you will experience a new joy of music-listening.
Rens Newland is, without a doubt, one of the most creative and productive jazz musicians within Austria. As a rule his productivity is not merely focused on playing his dear guitars, but to keep things interesting to others as to himself, he also indulges himself in composing, arranging and producing (or whatever publishing, running a record label or creating a serious bit of graphical designs through cd-cover production is being called these days).
Born in Holland, Rens Newland started his musical carreer playing in several cross-over bands. Especially Scope was pioneering and successful (eventually it even made it into the Billboard Jazz Charts) .
2008
After my playing on the very succesful second row of live shows with High School Musical, end of November and my fine orchestrating work on the TV series "Musical-The Show"
again there is some musical stuff for me to do: In February there is the launch of "Das Weisse Roessl", an original Austrian piece, in a new version. I´m gonna play on that.
Also more Orchestra arranging is waiting for me, for the Dancing Stars TV Show and the big Vienna Theatres.
Some Ostinato gigs coming up and Tommy Böröcz and I are planning to get a new album produced before summer!

Still working on my coming-up dance-groove project Groove Generation (album: DaDanceDisc) and maybe there even will be a Gloria Gaynor song on it (but don´t tell nobody)

In 2003 a production with exclusively compositions of his very own "About"-cycle (created in the last days of DDR in East Berlin!) is released: The CD Move that thing, Rens Newland on jazz-guitar with his Groove Jazz Formation "Groovit": Willi Langer on Bass, 3 great drummers in rotation: Oliver Gattringer, Joris Dudli and Christian Leitner. Guests: R''Becca (vocals), Geri Schuller (Keyboards), Flip Philipp (Vibraphone). Presentation tour in Austria.
Summerfestivals with Gloria Gaynor and more international Concerts with Lionel Lodge and Braty Bluzu.
In the studio and as a producer very active: a.o. D.e.w.i.e.n.e.r.s (Hip HOP), Flip Philipp (Modern Jazz), Joschi Schneeberger (swing)...
Rebecca makes it into the final round of the austrian version of "Idols"(Starmania), further work on her CD.

2002
In 2002 the Lionel Lodge and Rens Newland CD Sailing to the sirens was released, furthermore a live CD with Braty Bluzu. Big "Music Without Bounderies" concerts in Kiev and Kalush, Ukraine. Another interesting Jazz and Rhythm & Blues crossover project started : "Impact Project" feat. R´Becca, and the presentation of a new voice: Marija De Silva. As a musical director he is touring with Gloria Gaynor and The Supremes again (a.o. in Schwitzerland, Denmark, Spain).
In the years up to 1991 he still did a lot of featured playing, writing and producing for Austrian Radio, a.o. with the ORF Symphony Orchestra and The Moonlight Orchestra. In 1991 he co-produced the Vienna Big Band Machine album and together with Martin Fuss and Hans Salomon he founded the record label Jive Music.
2001
In 2001 big concerts and touring with Gloria Gaynor (Austria, Spain, Dubai) formed the highlight. Concerts in the Ukrain, co-operation and concerts with the group Braty Bluzu from there (in Linz and Kiev) followed after that.
Rens Newland also had some very succesfull openings with Lionel Lodge to Alanis Morisette and Jethro Tull concerts in Vienna. The presentation of the Lionel Lodge & Rens Newland Unplugged Project found place at about the same time. On the 2nd Willi Langer CD (The course of life), he profilated himself as co-producer, arranger and player.
