Armenian Music Center presents Sevada''s CD "Disconnected". Sevada followed Years of Solitude with 2000''s Disconnected, perhaps his most experimental work to date. This is, indeed, an album that draws quite an arch. Introductions are made with a reworking of an Armenian classic, featuring the voice of the great 19th and early 20th century ethnomusicologist Komitas from a rare recording. Titled "That Voice Again," the track offers a chilling contrast between the primal Komitas and the irritating refrain of a modern telephone operator. Disconnected then goes into second gear with an unmistakable Sevada number, the aptly titled "Pressure." Its manic energy and polished crescendos are designed to evoke any number of images straight out of the urban jungle, making the track sink in like an anthem for 21st century angst.
