64millimetres present “Prefiguring A Glance”, a new CD by Tasos Rosopoulos. Using Henri Cartier-Bresson’s “Decisive moment” as a starting point and a source of inspiration, the composer offers nine pieces – seven orchestral pieces and two songs – which “mould” imaginary tales and “illustrate” the listener’s imagination, transforming the process of taking a photograph into a musical itinerary.

Nine pieces and as many melodic stations, which take us to “A Bit of Sky”, give us a much-desired “Pledge” for the future, urge us to set in motion “The Timid One” hidden within us and lead him to “The Decisive Moment”. “... In what’s to ever happen / What’s to ever be / The first step is fearful / The second’s the start...” With these lyrics from “A Bit of Sky”, written – like those of “Across the Street”, the second song in the CD – by Peggy Stefanidou, the listener is ideally prepared for this emotional experience and gets invited to a dream-world which is built note by note and moment by moment, as long as the music lasts.

Merging natural and electronic instruments in interesting and inventive ways, Tasos Rosopoulos maps out a musical route which traverses the rhythmical paths of the bossa nova, meets the melodic motives of movie soundtracks along the way and results in a totally personal musical idiom, a compositional palette filled with colours both modern and classical. Singer Louiza Sofianopoulou, the composer’s fellow traveller in this musical journey, offers ideal interpretations of the album’s two songs.

Plus, of course, Giannis Agelopoulos (drums), Socratis Anthis (trumpet), Korina Vougiouka (classic guitar), Chrissoula Georgaki (bass clarinet, clarinet), Kostis Theos (cello), Alexandros Paraskevopoulos (electric bass), Agelos Repapis (contrabass), Basilis Stefanopoulos (contrabass).

The album was recorded and mixed at Prism Studio by Tasos Bakasietas, who also supervised its production. Mastered at Sterling Sound Studio by Chris Gehringer.
