The Man
Gernado N. Abrams is a 29-year old Jacksonville, FL native. He graduated from the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts with a College Preparatory Degree. Gernado also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Accounting with a minor in Business Management.
The Minister
Gernado has accepted his call to go forth and preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He is a licensed minister and contends that through his music he can get a message out. Gernado seeks to share God and the message of Christ through his music, which he describes as "Spiritual Poetry". He believes that God made music a universal language that allows Christians to creatively express and enjoy the different ways in which God reveals himself.
Gernado has been called out and indeed is a "Chosen One" within the world of Gospel (Ragga-Muffin) Hip Hop music.
The Artist
Since the age of 5, Gernado has been a student of the art of music. He began listening to Reggae music with his Father and musicians like Bob Marley inspired Gernado to grow more within the world of Reggae music.
Gernado improved his musicianship playing the drums, trumpet and piano at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. Upon graduation, Gernado stayed rooted in music through his affiliation with local dancehall disc jockeys.
In the mid nineties, Gernado embarked on his first Reggae Hip-Hop Project. It was on this project that he was able to showcase his vocal as well as his instrumental capabilities. The project was a collaboration between Gernado and some original Islanders from Kingston, Jamaica. Although the project was never publicly released, it received rave reviews from connoisseurs of "Real Reggae" music.
Gernado''s was released by God to "Go Forth" and pursue his newest project with full intensity in early 2002. Titled "Persistence," the project can be described as a mix between the heartfelt musical styling of lyricists such as: Papa San and Big Brother Jake. This project is one of the most creative and musically expressive projects of Gernado''s career. Gernado has put himself (the man, the minister, and the artist) into this project and through the Grace of God it will make it to the public platform and connoisseurs of music will continue to be impressed.
