To say that Gianmarc is pretty into music is like saying that Bill Gates is pretty into computers. Music has been his passion from a young age when he began violin lessons at the age of three. While he can''t play violin worth a damn anymore, he has become an extremely proficient guitarist and singer. Gianmarc also plays drums, bass, and piano, though on this album he leaves the bulk of the drumming and the keyboard playing to some very capable friends (Jeremy Berberian - drums, Phil Matthews - drums, Ian Peck - keyboards).
Gianmarc''s musical style brings together elements of 80''s metal, psychedelic rock, choral music, progressive rock, and a touch of R&B in a way that flows more than you can imagine an eclectic mix like that ever could. As he puts it, "There is so much music out there that has something great to offer, for me to only draw influence from one area would be a waste of the rest of the music." Some of Gianmarc''s favorite musicians are: Queen, Skid row, Jeff Buckley, and Bumblefoot. Like most artists who take pride in their experimental approach to music, Gianmarc hates classifying his music into a genre, but the best name he could give the music on this album is "mini-prog." "I''ve always liked the quality musicianship and experimentation found in progressive rock, so I decided to try and squeeze all that yummy prog goodness into bite sized 4-5 min songs," he said. "I think my lyrics are a lot more down to earth than most prog-rock bands too" he added.
Hearing is believing. If you can''t imagine what a dozen guitars playing in four part harmony like a strings section sound like, you need to listen to this album. If you would like to hear what one man''s voice overdubbed 20 times in four part harmony sounds like, you need to listen to this album. If the sound of a high tenor voice soaring above the band is something you sorely miss in rock music, you need to listen to this album. And if you''re wondering where all the badass guitar solos have gone, for God''s sake, listen to Gianmarc''s "Time to Breathe."
