Jim Gibson grew up in the Baptist church, in Columbus, GA. When he was in elementary school, his father paid him a dime for every hymn he memorized--(later raised to a quarter.)
Jim''s first paying music job was as accompanist for a church choir in a small country church out from town.
So, he comes to playing hymns with a long history--and he loves them. "It''s really hard to beat the power of these simple, strong melodies," he says. "And, when a tune lasts for generations--for hundreds of years in some cases--then you know there is something really special about that song."
