John Nazarenko is a Senior Artist-in-Residence at Skidmore College. He performs as a soloist, with his trio, with Colleen Pratt and Friends, and with guitarist Chuck D''Aloia. He has published three books on jazz piano, improvisation, and arranging for small combos.
This debut trio CD recording with bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Eric Harland features the band playing jazz standards as well as two rock tunes arranged for jazz trio (Paint It Black by the rolling Stones and Wish You were Here by Pink Floyd). The recording was made in May, 2006 at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY, with support from the Mellon Foundation, the Dean of the Faculty''s office, and a faculty development grant. The tracks were recorded live in the Filene Recital Hall by Charlie Eble and mixed by John Nazarenko at The Creek Studio (https://www.tradebit.com). Mastering was done by Emily Lazar at The Lodge, NYC.
