Details:
Mark Johnson is a uniquely unique artist. He is a writer in every sense of the word, but a musician''s picker as well. He cut his teeth playing bluegrass mandolin and guitar in the North Carolina highlands while absorbing big band, 50s rock, and 70s pop music.

Mark came into his own as an artist after he discovered the singer/songwriter genre of the 1970s and realized he was better-suited to precise fingerstyle and percussive rhythm playing rather than bluegrass flatpicking. For more than 12 years, Mark entertained audience across the U.S. and Caribbean at resort hotels, universities, and arts centers. In the 90s, he wrote on staff for MCA Music Publishing, the Crosswind Corporation, and Orbison Productions.

"Tallman" was recorded at the fabled Black Horse Studios in January of 1997, and features a lineup of A-string Nashville players such as New Grass Revival founder and mandolinist Sam Bush, Grammy Award-winning songwriter Don Henry, fretless and acoustic bassist Craig Nelson, keyboard master Dirk Johnson, and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist John Foster.

Now an award-winning non-fiction writer and photographer, Mark is currently creating a children''s music/multimedia project and expects to release his first album in more than 10 years in the coming months.
