Chad Boyd is another in a long line of tough-minded but insightful singer/songwriters in a tradition that stretches from Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard down through Fred Eaglesmith and Chris Knight. Drawing on a sometimes rough-and-tumble but ultimately fun and exciting life, Boyd writes tunes of rage and compassion, death and innocence, liquored-up laments and sober statements of pride and regrets. His past experience as a ranch hand, a Marine Corps sniper, a bartender and bouncer, and of course a well-travelled (at least within Texas) singer/songwriter give his music an authenticity his peers often only aspire to. He has already, in his young career, opened for artists including Billy Joe Shaver, Chris Knight, Kevin Fowler, 1100 Springs, the Gougers, and other standouts as well as frequent jams and song swaps with his fellow Brazos Valley artists. His next goal is to release a debut album, spreading his songs even further to fans of honest & heartfelt music.
