LHEX
There''s an old saying from ages back that says, "Home is where the heart is". Several musicians moved from one town to another before resting and repping one spot. For example, Eminem bounced from city to city as a child, even stopping in Kansas City, Missouri before setting in Detroit. Nelly moved to Saint Louis when he was 12 years old. LHEX was born in California and during his life has lived in Atlanta, New York, and Jersey, as well as 8 years here in Saint Louis. Of all the places he''s been, LHEX put it best saying, "I was born in Cali, but Saint Louis is my home".
LHEX was immersed in music at an early age. With a father that sings gospel, it was almost genetic that LHEX himself could carry a tune. The heavy church background also allowed him to mostly stay out of trouble, holding to the church values. Influenced from various people, including his cousin David affectionately called Mad KD and his mother, as well as musical artist like Nat King Cole, Bill Withers, Lil'' Wayne, Baby, and more, LHEX gravitated towards music. After moving to Hazelwood, he eventually started his journey into the Hip-Hop culture as a dancer with a group called Overflow, as well as other local groups. However, him and his partner split from creative differences, leaving LHEX to find a new avenue to take. He soon started rapping as well as a lead singer. He later hooked up with another artist named Mr. Ice from New Jersey. They''ve completed an R&B collaboration single together. Currently, he''s producing beats, working on both a rap and R&B CD''s, and performing in shows down in New York and Florida for starters. Offering up a bit of advice to those who just got their feet wet into the game, LHEX reminds them that there are a lot of things to go through. "Remember to pay ya dues," LHEX replied. With the accomplishments he''s made, there can be some hate that gets thrown his way. LHEX doesn''t let that discourage him from doing his thing, in fact it fuels him. "There''s a lot of negativity to either feed on or ignore," LHEX told Street Heat. Despite his busy schedule, he still finds a little time to relax while writing, creating more music and producing more beats. He can also be found bumping tunes from Young Jeezy, Murhpy Lee, Nelly, Akon, and Ebony Eyez in his off time.
To LHEX, family is central to his whole motivation. In addition to helping others who help him along his way, he also makes his strides towards success with his parents and his daughter in mind. "I really don''t want to miss her growing up. She''s 12 right now, so I can sit her down and explain to her what I want to do in life. She understands that I don''t just do this for me, but for the both of us," LHEX explained. That is perhaps why he puts so much of his heart into the game. When asked about his feelings on Hip-Hop, LHEX replied, "The rap game is strong, man. It''s not going anywhere. I consider it an art form, that''s why we''re called rap artists. When I write a rhyme, it''s like a sketch. Then when I lay it down onto the track, I''m painting a picture with the words." Like his own unique and complex sound, so is his namesake. The name Lhex replies the Lord blessed him with it.
LHEX has the perfect formula for success in his craft. Start with talent, mix in diverse skills from different Hip-Hop elements, blend in motivation from necessity, add a pinch of industry connections and you have strange brew ready to blow up on any scene.
