Audiences throughout the northeast have been captivated by Peter Miles and his remarkable voice, which has finally been captured on his new CD “Live Life Live”.
“Miles” as friends call him is known for his uniquely honest, truthful sound and approach. His extraordinarily clear sound and alarming four-octave vocal range coupled with his clean, vivid guitar style create the sensation of more sound than one man and one guitar might typically produce.
His vocal experience began in early childhood harmonizing with an older brother and sister at home. Later Miles enjoyed classical choral training under some of the worlds finest directors (Brock MacElhern, Gerald Heart) throughout his school-age years and continues with countless performances, recording sessions and club dates since then.
Miles'' unusual guitar style, both acoustic and electric, utilizes all right-hand fingers and a flat-pick in combination to produce moving bass lines and detailed counter-melodies that weave their way through his music and enhance his vocal performance. This style developed from the process of learning to play hit songs that originally included several instruments and voices using only his one voice, and one guitar. Many of the well known passages of these hit songs were originally played on keyboard, horns, and voices or with multiple guitar tracks. Miles has always tried to find a way to play these important melodies and flourishes while simultaneously keeping the rhythm and flow of the song intact. This technique now shows up loud and clear in his original music as well.
This live recording of a solo-acoustic performance includes ten original “Miles songs” and two classic cover songs. The recording came about with the help of renowned studio guitarist and producer/arranger David Spinozza who has worked with Paul McCartney, James Taylor and many others in the popular music industry. The album was recorded live by Spinozza and Frank Dickinson of "90 East Productions" at a small Italian trattoria in southern Vermont. The balanced resonance of Miles’ guitar and voice are clear in each track and the old wooden beams in the tavern ring with live energy, applause and laughter.
