On this album, I have captured the adventure and romanticism of my extensive travels abroad. Many of the featured compositions are inspired by the legendary Asian singer, Teresa Teng, whose lilting yet seductive voice is reminiscent of Judy Garland. Like "Roses Of Spring" and "Song Of The Wind," many of the compositions echo Teresa''s passionate vocal style. Both Judy and Teresa''s singing evokes emotion and longing which is reflected in the title composition, "Embraced By A Dream." It has been a wonderful experience for me to compose and arrange the songs on this album. I truly have been "Embraced By A Dream."
Robert Van Horne is an experienced and talented pianist and composer who delights audiences with his friendly personality and his extensive repertoire of music. A list of selections include his unique compositions, traditional classical works and current and favorite popular tunes many of which he has updated with creative arrangements. His greatest asset is his natural ability to entertain audiences with a mixture of relaxing, romantic, and upbeat music.
Robert studied classical music at the Philadelphia Musical Academy, graduating with double degrees in piano and education. He continued his musical training by concentrating on popular and jazz styles with extensive study in composing and improvisation. One of the most influential teachers during his musical instructions is the well-known jazz pianist/composer George Shearing.
From 1982 to 1985, Robert had the opportunity of performing as a pianist on the S.S. NORWAY and the M.S. PEARL OF SCANDINAVIA cruise ships.
During the years that followed, while living in Singapore, he recorded many of the popular Chinese songs for EMI Records.
In 1998, Warner Brothers Publications published his CHINA LOVE compositions in a piano book available worldwide.
Robert has performed on TV and radio, as well as in concerts for audiences both in the U.S. and Asia.
Today, he regularly performs benefit concerts for charities with his unique style of bringing humor and fun to his audiences as well as encouraging their participation during the program.
Robert''s goal is to bring his musical personality and talent to worldwide audiences who enjoy listening to familiar and original music.
