Artist Bio:
Trahern is a singer/songwriter living in Phoenix, AZ. With influences ranging from the 1970''s California sound (The Eagles, America, Jackson Browne, CSN) to bluegrass (Allison Krauss, Tony Rice) to acoustic jazz fusion (Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin), Trahern''s music combines driving rhythms, acoustic guitars and smooth vocal harmonies together with songs about traveling through the Southwest.
Born in 1974 in Oklahoma City, OK, Trahern was raised on a variety of music before taking up the acoustic guitar in his early teens.
Trahern first fell in love with acoustic music through his love for the music of Paul Simon. After discovering the music of John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot and, most importantly, Bill Staines, Trahern was combining the introspective songwriting of folk music with his love for rhythm based acoustic rock and bluegrass.
In 1997, a 23 year old Trahern traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico for the first time and was immediately inspired. From the "TRAVELER" CD liner notes:
"I made my first journey to Santa Fe in late August of 1997. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew that Santa Fe was in the high deserts of New Mexico so I pictured lots of dirt & rock. But, when I arrived, I saw (and felt) what has attracted artists of all kinds to this magical place for decades.
There’s something mystical about the landscape in Santa Fe
that changes you, hypnotizes your mind, and frees something
very spiritual and romantic deep inside of you.
Music is my art. And like many other artists, the setting of
Santa Fe, the rich, brown adobe homes set against the green
Sangre de Cristo mountains all under a sapphire blue sky with puffy, white clouds surrounding, started to ease itself into my music."
Trahern is currently playing cafes/folk clubs in the Phoenix area. He is also recording his second CD scheduled for release in late 2008.
