Ironically Arctic Soul was born on a hot August night in 2007. The creative force behind Arctic Soul''s sound, Lawrence Mudge, decided to try his hand at arranging and composing music. The results of many, many hours of work can be heard on this full-length, 19 track album.
The title -12 (negative 12) represents the artists fondness for the deep rich dark sound of the grand piano played out of tune -12 semitones. Most of the tracks on -12 feature piano and guitar. Lawrence has been informed by several experienced artists that his work sounds good. One artist explained a notable liking for the fugues used in a lot of the work. Not even realizing he was using this technique (or knowing what it was at the time), Lawrence presents finished work with no background or education in the music field.
This album took about 4 months to complete.
Lawrence can complete a song in as little as two days and is working on a second CD possibly titled " The Thaw."
