Details:
The songs tell it all: twelve wonderfully eclectic, wholly original songs with intelligent lyrics, melodies that are sometimes haunting, sometimes catchy, and diverse rhythms. Exploring the many moods of a woman''s experience, Cat Guthrie''s songs will crack you up one minute, and the next break your heart. A sampling: "Mothers Who Love Too Much", about what we say to our kids when we don''t think anyone else is listening. "How Was I to Know", a poignant song about a daughter''s love for her distant father. "Monster of the Month", a hormonal homage that ends with the lyrics, "Lizzie Borden took an ax, it was a PMS attack", and "I Need a Wife" -- don''t we all?

It is impossible to pigeonhole this CD into any one style or genre. Singer/songwriter Cat Guthrie says, "I sang in clubs and cabarets all over the US and internationally for many, many years singing other people''s songs, and I learned to love all kinds of music. When I sat down to write my own songs, they came out in every different genre: jazzy, bluesy, country, Broadway -- I surprised even myself. It kept me guessing, like an Ipod on shuffle; you never know what will be next!"

Cat''s voice is hard to pigeonhole as well. On one song, it may be warm, crystal clear and heartbreaking, on the next, down home and gritty. A "rich alto" as one Atlantic City reviewer called it, Cat''s voice invites you in, warms the fire, and pulls you up a chair. You won''t want to be leaving any time soon.

A Day in the Life of a Mother and Wife was beautifully produced by award-winning producer John Gentry Tennyson, who did the arrangements as well. The orchestrations are eclectic and tasty, and feature a team of world-class studio musicians.

Cat Guthrie was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, and toured extensively in nightclubs throughout the US and internationally before landing in the cabarets and concert halls of New York City and the Tri-State area. She sang with the Twice Grammy nominated LA Jazz Choir, and the close vocal trio Satin Dolls. She met her husband, writer/director Joel Goss, performing in the long running Spectacular Days of Radio in Atlantic City for Radio City Music Hall and Trump Plaza. She has also done hundreds of national and regional on-camera commercials and voice-overs.

Cat currently lives in Garrison NY with her husband Joel and son Keaton.
