The voice of singer Dennis Collins is one that goes straight to the heart of everyone who hears him. A native of Detroit, Michigan, a city known for producing great singers, Dennis says he knew even as a young child, that he was destined to be a singer. Raised in a musical family, everyone played an instrument and sang. “Our home was filled the all kinds of music” he says proudly. From an early age, he was surrounded by the music of Motown, and pop greats like Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughn, Tony Bennett, Roberta Flack, Judy Garland, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway.
Being equally gifted singing Pop, Jazz and Classical, Dennis had to make a choice between the Pop and the Classical Worlds. Upon his arrival in New York City, he quickly established himself as an extremely versatile singer who could adapt to many different genres of music. It was not long before he caught the attention of one of his idols, Ms. Roberta Flack, who asked him to join her on her next World Tour as a featured vocalist performing her duets.
This led to opportunities to record and perform with other great artists such as James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Luther Vandross, Diana Ross, Bette Midler, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Chaka Khan, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Sting, Marc Cohn, Willie Nelson, Patti LaBelle, Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Buffet, Moby, The Blue Man Group, and many others.
