Renaissance, under the direction of Dionn Maestro Owen originated in October 2001 as a mass anniversary choir that assembled at Macedonia Worship Center. After countless requests and much prayer, the choir as it is known today held their debut concert on January 19, 2002 at Middle Fork Christian Church. Renaissance is comprised of members from different churches in the Triad area. The choir ministers near and far and gains recognition wherever they travel. The choir has been blessed to not only minister at countless churches, but share in many local Triad ministries such as Peace of Mind, The Ebony Chorale, Mischel Goldsmith and Sold Out, The GateKeeperz as well as national ministries such as Yolanda Adams, Bishop Dreyfus Smith and the Wings of Faith, The Wilmington Chester Mass Choir, Troy Sneed, Patrick Lundy & The Ministers of Music and Trinity 5:7, Myron Butler and Levi. The choir has ministered on Gospel cruises, at the North Carolina General Baptist Convention as well as the North Carolina Baptist State Convention.
Renaissance completed two tours in 2004 which included Roanoke, Christiansburg and Petersburg, Virginia as well as Bridgeton, New Jersey, 2006 with Greg Amos and ADP, The Gatekeeperz and many others. Renaissance has participated in the July 2005, and 2007 "The Piedmont Triad Praise Fest" which consist of diversity of culture and music mixing together to make a joyful sound. Also in 2006 at the Alabama Dekald Praise Fest the Renaissance were among one the highlights of the Alabama Dekalb Praise Fest August 2006. Renaissance released their debut CD in September 2003 and is currently being played on numerous radio stations. Their independent release received a favorable review from Gospel Flava and songs such as Come by Here and He Cares have become songs of choice for choirs locally as well as in abroad. Subsequent to their CD release, Renaissance held their live video taping at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, October 2003. In June 2007 Renaissance received an award for the Choir of the year from Gospel Reflections in North Carolina. Renaissance is currently released their sophomore project entitled "Psalms from the Heart” which was released April 12th 2008. The Renaissance was nominated for choir of the year at the North Carolina Announcers Guild in Greensboro North Carolina.
