Details:
Eric Stinnett is a soulful R&B singer born and raised in Dallas, Texas. While his looks may be reminiscent of Joe, he sounds more like his other influences: Brian McKnight, D’Angelo, Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell, Raphael Saadiq, Jaheim, and Boyz II Men. Growing up in Dallas, Texas, he honed his early musical gifts singing in the church. Early in school he excelled at trombone while playing in several jazz groups and ensembles at the high school and collegiate level. It was there where he discovered a love for jazz music and incorporated it into his own gospel and soul-inspired vocal style. After receiving accolades and studying at the prestigious music school, University of North Texas, he moved to Florida to pursue an education in music business at the University of Miami.

While studying the music business, Eric was elected president of ‘Cane Records, an independent student-run record label at the University of Miami. This accomplishment allowed him to meet key decision makers in the music industry, sharpen his business savvy, produce two full-length CDs and polish his resume as an aspiring music business professional. In the summer of 2003, Eric secured an internship at EMI Music Publishing in New York, the world’s largest music publishing company.

Although Eric was busy learning the music business, he devoted all his free time to singing and developing his God-given vocal talent. He quickly became known on campus as a talented vocalist by voice teachers and gained much attention from other artists hoping to collaborate. While singing with bands, choirs or in the studio collaborating with other artists gave him the opportunity to expand his craft, Eric was always most luminous when performing solo. Only then did he have the total freedom to improvise, to prolong a suspenseful moment or to capture the audience’s attention at a moment’s notice without hesitation. Although Eric’s silky voice had taken him from Dallas to Austin to Birmingham, and even to New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall, he had never performed his own written material, until now.

His latest project, Chocolate Soul, embodies his own original music, combined with the efforts of proficient production teams: Miami Beat Wave, Soul Shockaz from Chicago and Vivrant Productions from Dallas. He has also called on the expertise of his studio musician friends to record and produce 2 new live-recorded tracks, “Whiplash” and “My Life’s Breath”. This project is Eric’s first solo effort and is the culmination of years of musical experience focused into one project. His full-length album is projected to drop Winter 2007 while “Whiplash” has been playing on US Internet radio and in United Kingdom ever since featured in Atlanta’s International Soul Summit in July 2007.
Eric has recently focused all his energies towards elevating the lyrical substance of all his music in general, embracing his vocal gift, cultivating his musical abilities and sharing his voice with the world by touring in South Florida. When asked when his musical goal will be accomplished Eric says, “If I can make a living by doing what I love everyday, creating music that inspires, and sharing that music with people who need to be inspired, then I’ll know I have succeeded.”
