Gary “G” Wilson has been a singer/songwriter in the Mid-West for most of his life. He was born with a dream to enlighten and entertain the world with his own special brand of music. This album is the latest offering of a snapshot of the realization of that dream. Gary feels it is a gift to be able to create music that captures the emotions in the average person’s heart.

Gary ‘G’ Wilson was born and raised in Denver Colorado. He began singing as a child in church and school choirs. His 1st band was called the CITATIONS and they performed at talent shows and school dances. He grew up with 3 members of Earth, Wind and Fire: Phillip Bailey, Andrew Woolfolk, and Larry Dunn.

Gary met Tommy Bolin, the guitar player for the recording group ZEPHYR, in Boulder, Colorado where Gary attended University of Colorado in the early 70’s. Tommy asked Gary to join his new group ENERGY. The group performed and recorded original music, including “Red Skies”, a bonus track on the https://www.tradebit.comson album.

In the mid 70’s Gary moved to L.A. under the guidance of music management of Alan Goda and Debbie Burnett to pursue his music career. He returned to Boulder in order to write and record with Gerard McMahon at Caribou Ranch. Gerard went on to record several albums on major labels.

Gary joined the LatinFunk band SANTIAGO, started by Nefty Santiago the Drummer and original member of the group MANDRILL. Santiago’s record “Feeling Good” received airplay and regional acclaim.

Gary, Billy Bass Nelson, and Charles Watson started the group MAJIQUE in Canada. An album was completed for Andre Perry at Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec for release on Atlantic (Big Tree)

In 1979, Gary recorded with the Great ‘Wilson Pickett’ on the album “I Want You” for EMI America. Singing background vocals with Jerry Knight (Ray Parker Jr. and Radio), Pepsi Powell, and Billy Bass Nelson (original ParliamentFunkadelic)

In the 80’s, Gary recorded the single “Social Butterfly”, a second single “Cookie Jar” and released the independent album, Gary Wilson ‘Cornerstone’ on BridgeFire Records. “Cornerstone” was voted as “Best Album” locally in the Denver Post and the Westward polls.

Producer Dik Darnell started a new label and signed Gary to a recording contract with Urban Sound Records.

Rusty Allen (Sly and The Family Stone), Gary Wilson, and Wally Winzer, start the group DAHOOK and recorded at Fantasy Records (San Francisco), The Record Plant (Sausalito), and One Little Indian Studios (Oakland, Calif.)


In the new millennium, Gary produced a techno CD for distribution in Japan and Europe. “GQ and Dahook”. The single “Drive Me Crazy”, originally produced by Dik Darnell, received critical acclaim. After that, Gary recorded several albums with Tim Duffy and the All Stars and an album with Chester Owens.

In between recording, Gary has taken to the stage with regional favorite and touring bands such as Camillo, Second Wind, Cornerstone, The Joe Keel Action Orchestra (opening for Marlena Shaw, Bob James , King Sunny Adae , Jonathan Butler, and Roy Ayers, and played at Jazz on the Rocks at the Red Rocks Ampitheater), Most recently he sings with the rock and soul band, Vintage, who have opened for the Four Tops, The Coasters, The Drifters, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, and the Temptations.

For Gary, the new album “G. Wilson” is the realization of just one of many musical dreams. Watch for more soon, because THE MUSIC NEVER STOPS!
