Love and Special Sauce, Jack Johnson and Citizen Cope. Jamie McCarthy is back for round two with Salvation, the follow up album to 2006’s Strange Town. Salvation features Gotta Be, his soulful ballad, and Call Me Crazy, quite possibly the funniest, sing-a-long song ever written about wanting to kill someone. What’s up with Jamie McCarthy?
June, 2008

Jamie McCarthy was 20 years old when he earned himself the role of lead vocalist of the early 90s alt. rock band Modern Cocktail Party. After a year of touring and a fallen deal with Warner Bros. records he was swept into the world of commercial production and voice over work. In 1995 as he was about to embrace the music industry once again when his father, legendary Hall of Fame Radio host J.P McCarthy, passed away. Jamie then spiraled quietly into the depths of a Dewars bottle for 6 years. Appearing occasionally on the WJR radio show “Happy Hour” where he would perform experimental tracks that he had written under the influence, often quoting Charles Bukowski, and then leaving the show.
In the fall of 2001, he sobered and returned from a 10 year hiatus from the music business. He began writing music again after a trip to Santa Monica, California where he''d seen a homeless person hang himself from a tree on Ocean Ave. Deeply moved by the tragedy, he wrote Strange Town and it was the beginning of a project that he swore he would see through to completion. It was then that he vowed never to take himself or life too seriously.

His confessional storytelling lyrics are thought provoking, authentic and honest… and at times even comical. The listener will travel to some pretty dark places, but will often be left with a positive message and hopefully a smile. His sort of "life is short, so don''t sweat the small stuff" message is something we can all relate to. You get the feeling listening to his songs that he is quite comfortable with himself and finds comedy in the absurd world of deep self-importance.

McCarthy also produces and directs commercials and short films to support his addiction to making music and has begun producing tracks for emerging artists. McCarthy’s unique lyrical and vocal style has recently earned him points from the often-jaded critics in the music business.

McCarthy also has made recent appearances in the https://www.tradebit.com Ced N Teri where he shows up in the show as a repo depo guy and then plays the new song “I’d Rather Be Ced N Teri”. Coming in June, McCarthy will host his own music and entertainment show Sunday nights on WDET/NPR, soon to syndicated across the country.
