Jaylen Heart is definitely on a mission to become a respected musician in the vastly growing music industry. Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, Jay was exposed to all types of music at a young age, as his father was an outstanding guitar player in many bands and a solo artist. Focused on sports through much of his adolescence, it wasn’t until he attended college at North Carolina A&T State University that he began to take his own music seriously. With his acoustic guitar in hand, writing and performing became his focus. After graduating from college, J Heart went to Atlanta where he was introduced to Independent label owner Tigah of Deep Cut Recordz. Tigah, originally from St. Thomas (Virgin Islands), aided in the completion of the Acoustic City Project. (2005) “We call it acoustic city because, although I play the acoustic guitar, I''m not exactly a typical neo (soul) artist. I tend to use urban lyrical content in a lot of my writing. Im not a rapper, but many of my influences happen to be from the hip hop genre of music." After recording the Acoustic City Project (2005), to perfect his craft, J Heart hired classically trained vocal instructor Mara Norris to aid him in becoming the best vocalist he can be. In 2008 the much anticipated FIRST LOVE album is scheduled for release.
