Details:
Winner of a 2002 Parents'' Choice Gold Award and the coveted Publishers Weekly ''Listen Up'' award!

"Off-beat sense of humor...unexpectedly beautiful melodies, and instrumentals that are as adult as they get, without losing sight of young listeners. Madsen is a one-of-a-kind delight." - Parents'' Choice Foundation

"As much for adults to enjoy as children, with fab, sophisticated instrumentals and vocals. It''s as witty as all get-out and often unexpectedly touching, too." - Los Angeles Times

"Gunnar Madsen, founder of the genre-busting a cappella group The Bobs, is back with another uproarious, dizzyingly imaginative children''s album. Nowhere else, we guarantee, will you find songs like Madsen''s drowsy ode to daydreaming, "Welcome to My Fog," his wacky tall tale "And the Children Rolled," and the bizarre "Mayonnaise and Pumpernickel Bread," which defies description." - Family Fun Magazine

""Ants in My Pants" is one of the most professional recordings for children I have ever heard. From the arrangements and the wonderful Doo-Wop-like background vocals, to the musical accompaniment and wealth of original songs, Madsen has it all." - Association of Children''s Librarians of Northern California

----------------
Gunnar Madsen entered the world of children''s entertainment by accident. The acclaimed acapella group he founded and wrote for, The Bobs, were known for their witty and adult lyrical twists and complex musical arrangements. But their unique all-vocal sound won them a surprise popularity with children.

Inspired by this audience demographic, Gunnar joined with a group of songwriters to write songs specifically for the children''s market. One of their tapes landed on the desk of an editor at Orchard Books. She gave Gunnar a contract to write a story based on his song, Old Mr. Mackle Hackle, and over the course of a year she helped Gunnar develop many stories. When she left her job, her replacement cancelled the contract, leaving the stories unpublished. But Gunnar continued writing stories and songs, eventually developing teleplays and screenplays from some of the material.

In 1999 he released his first commercial recording for children, Old Mr. Mackle Hackle, to tremendous national acclaim. The phenomenal success of the recording has inspired the follow-up CD Ants in My Pants!, as well as numerous new stories and a script for a television series based on Old Mr. Mackle Hackle.

Gunnar was a participant in the ASK foundation''s 2000 Playwright/Composers program, and was invited to their 2001 writer''s retreat to work on a new stage musical with collaborator Joy Gregory (writer for ‘Felicity'' on WB).

He has received commissions from Lincoln Center, the Los Angeles Theater Center, the Minnesota Opera, Oberlin Dance Collective, ISO Dance Theater, National Public Radio and many others. He has written music for the feature films "Breaking the Rules" and "A Special Providence."

He is a featured performer on the soundtrack of "At Play in the Fields of the Lord," in the National Geographic Special "Asteroids: Deadly Impact," and is featured as the emotionally charged voice of Sammy Davis, Jr. in the Emmy-award winning HBO film, "The Rat Pack." Gunnar''s work is also on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institution (video clips from the mind-bending collaboration between The Bobs and Iso).

In the fall of 2000 Gunnar journeyed to Russia to film a documentary on a remarkable farming community for disabled people. The film, finished in May 2001, is gaining favorable notice from a variety of critics, and is an official selection of the Ojai International Film Festival.
