Steve Lieberman The Gangsta Rabbi has been an important part of the New York Underground for decades--although his 14 full length cd''s received no commercial success or critical acclaim--he is a leader in what is called the Obscuro genre--made up of artists who exist to break all rules of writing, production, instrumentation, etc--Lieberman uses no guitars and performs his punk-fusion music using overdriven basses and flutes--2 instruments some say he is a master of--while others say he is a no-talent loud-mouth who is all about attitude-but his music preaches anti-racism, Jewish themes and animal rights.
His 14th cd, PSYCH WARD tells the very personal story of Lieberman''s on-going struggle with bi-polar disorder, his confinement for the sad results of a prolonged dark-cycle and the now on-going stigma and label he must live with for the rest of his life.
