7 MP3 Songs
METAL/PUNK: Doom/Stoner Metal, METAL/PUNK: Heavy Metal

Details:
Michael Crum – Vocals/guitar
Donovan Stewart – Vocals/drums
Chad Baker – Bass guitar
Overview:
Starting in 2001 as a 2 man indie-metal wrecking crew, Mico de Noche has
continually refined its version of modern heavy music. Now, with 3 previous
releases and multiple shows and tours under their collective belt, the duo of
Don Stewart & Mike Clam welcome fellow veteran of a thousand psychic
wars, Chad Baker, into the fold on the electric bass guitar and bring you the
group’s most killer set of awesome jams yet.
“Cherries” began in the summer of 2006 with two goals in mind: 1) get
sludgier and more fucked up than ever and 2) bring in as many like-minded
friends as possible to play on the songs. One year later, the result is seven
tracks of premium grade, full-tilt, northwest freakrock, featuring guest
appearances by members of Black Elk, Lozen, Argonaut, Source of Labor,
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and several other wasted
rocker friends of the band. During the process of producing “Cherries”, the
band pushed the limits of what could be done with a guitar, drums, some
wicked acid flashbacks, and the uncontrollable urge to rock. The songs of
“Cherries” grind and lurch through 28 sick and depraved minutes – fans of the
loud and heavy, take note!
In 2003, MdN was named one of the top 10 metal bands by the Seattle
Weekly, whatever that’s worth. Over the past six years, the band has played
extensively throughout the Northwest and West coast opening for such
acts as High on Fire, Jucifer, Big Business, The Blood Brothers, Kinski,
C-Average, Chrome, and Totimoshi . Live highlights include invitations to
appear at Wantage Records Totalfest four times from 2003-2006 as well
as playing showcases at SXSW in 2004 and 2005. Currently they are in the
middle of production on their next CD and are planning shows/tours for the
upcoming year.
Reviews:
“Barely two years old, Mico de Noche have already forgotten how to play nice with other
brats. Making the power-rock duo trend look tame and lame [Mico de Noche] trade in
sexy, self-stylized “freak rock” that ignites, explodes, and evaporates just as you start
to appreciate the black rhythmic undercurrents. The concept: Smash everything in
sight and maybe clean it up the next afternoon. Mico’s discordant new EP, Stripper
Wars, is just the right soundtrack for a hallucinogenic all-night bender of lap dances and
switchblades. Mike Patton would be proud.” - Seattle Weekly, 8/6/03
“Like the Melvins in their more coherent moments, locals Mico de Noche contort metal
out of a rigid form and into something that weighs heavier with each repetitive riff.
Although they don’t fly far into experimental never-never land like Buzz and his crew,
Mico still have a flair for the bizarre, as shown on their CD, Stripper Wars ... Even when
they’re screwing around with the lyrics, though, the duo still show that they know their
shit instrumentally, and their sludgy metal is top-notch.” - The Stranger, 5/8/03
“Mico De Noche featuring Migas members have a hard angry tight sound that reminds
me more of Am-Rep roster bands more so than those given the Stoner Rock moniker...
These 3 tight progressive and sometimes mathy songs were recorded in San Fran by
one Tim Green of the Champs. The producion is nicely done and really captures Mico’s
sound just right. Their overall sound shifts from open octave style chords mixed with
leads, back to back with chunky overdriven guitar rhythms. The sound often travels
from balls out loud to quiet parts reminding me of a cross between a Slint sort of feel to
a full blown Cherubs but with more of a hardcore-metal edge. The vocals are over the
top and right in your face. These guys mix it all up and make it sound reeaall good! It`s
hard, heavy, slightly mathy and just a full blown energy ride. Check em out if you like
everything from the Melvins to Cherubs.” - https://www.tradebit.com , 3/17/03
