Dedication
The song "The Light" is dedicated to "Life" and "Peace" which are really the same thing. I see the "Life" issue as a stool with four legs. There is the Unborn Life Issue, the Death Row Issue, the Poverty and Starvation Issue, and the Unjust War and Genocide Issue. I dont think it''s consistent to pick one or a couple of the issues and then claim to be Pro-Life. And as we all know, without all four legs, the whole stool falls.
As to Peace also, one wonders what would have happened if instead of spending all our money on war in the Middle East, if we would have spent it on rebuilding the Economy of Palestine and built roads, schools, cities ect.- whether the price at the pumps would look the same today. Just an idea from my Economics background. Also, I think it''s unlikely that the Palestinian Terrorists would want to blow up our cities while we were building new cities for them in Palestine. That''s just common sense. And the best part, we don''t need to send an army there to do that. Before we just pull out of Iraq though, now that we are there, we should keep building that Economy, and than start our good will aid to Palestine- no conditions- just build schools, and the Economy. I think before long, places like Syria and Iran will want our aid also rather than their own Atomic Bombs. Then the pull out date for Iraq as promised can be carried out without leaving the region unstable for everyone there including our friends in the region like Isreal and Jordan ect. Just a thought. Remember, all of our problems in the Middle East started in Palestine. Maybe we should start there to end those problems. Really, the Middle East over the past 40 years has kinda been like Europe after World War I. Because Germany''s Economy was left in a shambles, we ended up with Hitler and World War II. After World War II, the Marshall Plan rebuilt Europe''s Economies and look what happened there. Why is Palestine and the Middle East so different.
Remember, the "Cold War" is now over which allows us to rethink who can be our friends in the Middle East along with Isreal.
While the assumption has always been that hostility in the Middle East has been a product of historical and religious conflict between Arabs and Jews. I think that the more current status of the Middle East is more a product of Cold War politics with Isreal being on our side. Now that the Cold War is over, we and the rest of the West are in a possition to use Economics to end that conflict. After all, in the end, it was Economics that ended the Cold War itself and has kept us from World War III in Europe and otherwise.--Just a thought--
