A No.1 in smooth jazz charts in Russia and VH1 Song of the Year Finalist, Olga Osipova''s ability to write compelling lyrics and smooth jazz melodies has proven to enchant audiences from British Columbia to Russia, and many points in between.
Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, Olga was classically trained in piano, and has performed chansons of 19th - 20th century, a popular genre in Russia called "romance", since the age of 15. She graduated from the School of Music with a special "With Excellence" diploma in piano major and continued her performance career and musical training at Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany, receiving lessons and master classes in classical and jazz piano from many world-class instructors.
It was in Germany that Olga got involved with a jazz a-cappella group Point 7. With Point 7, she toured Germany and Switzerland, performing in front of 500+ crowds. At that time, Olga began to write in German; soon her original song "Wieder und Wieder" ("Again and Again") was playing on the local radio, Olga''s voice and musical style often being compared to Zarah Leander and the late, smoky Marlene Dietrich.
From Germany Olga moved to Canada, her country of choice; her Master''s degree in Linguistics helped Olga to find freedom to write songs in three languages. Olga currently composes for film, is busy working on the launch of her new CD (to be released in July 2008), and performs regularly for jazz fans and music lovers worldwide.
