R C Bannon was born in Dallas Texas. Started playing in clubs at fourteen with a band he put together at school. After graduation moved to Seattle and played all over the Northwest and Canada for nine years before moving to Nashville in 1976. Three months after moving to Nashville he got his first writers deal with Warner Bros Music. Four months after that he signed a recording contract with CBS. (Columbia). On the 2nd anniversary of his arrival in Nashville, R C received his first, of three number one records he has written on Ronnie Milsap''s "Only One Love In My Life". Followed by Top Twenty hits on Hank Thompson and Bobby Bare.
In 1981 he was signed to write special material and produce and mix music on the NBC series "Mandrell Sisters Show". This show introduced him to Bob Hope and Red Skelton whom he wrote special material for T V specials.
In 1983 a new Network was coming to cable. TNN signed R C to host "Performance Plus" a show about everything "automobile". That lasted for nine years.
During this time R C didn''t forget about the music. He had a second number one record on Barbara Mandrell "One Of A Kind Pair of Fools" which he wrote with one of his mentors of lyrics John Bettis. They also wrote the Milsap song. Then he wrote and produced three top five records on Louise Mandrell and another top five for Charlie McClain "Women Get Lonely".
In 1995 R C met Larry Stewart lead singer for Restless Heart. Besides playing a lot of golf and writing a lot of songs they wrote a top forty hit for Larry "Why Can''t You". R C says this is the best song he has written and swears will someday be a number one record on someone.
During the 90''s R C did some A & R work with RCA and RIVER NORTH Records. River North hired R C to take a new artist around to radio named Steve Azar. They became fast friends and golfing partners. This lead to writing the next number one "I Don''t Have To Be Me Till Monday". although when they wrote it Steve had lost his deal with River North they held the song for when Steve would get his next record contract. They turned down Tim McGraw, and Kenny Chesney who wanted to cut "Monday". But they just knew Steve would land a deal somewhere. Of course with the talent Steve has it had to happen. It did happen and in a big way. The record came out and stayed on the R & R chart for almost a year.
R C also found a new act in a bar outside of Houston in Katy Texas while searching for talent for RCA. His name was Doug Supernaw. RCA signed him and he went on to have two number one records. Like R C says, "I''m always looking for talent".
After 30 years in Nashville, R C finally came back home to Texas in 2006with his wife Natalie.
He now sits on the porch overlooking Eagle Point lake outside of Ft Worth
writing songs. Several of those new songs can be found on this CD including the hit on another new artist Nikki Britt "C-O-W-B-O-Y. You can hear the demo on this CD sung by Ciara Lynn.
