MP3 Sick Sick Sister - My Friend My Enemy

Dynamic dirges of electric avarice, unrequited lust, and bittersweet revenge.

8 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Grunge, METAL/PUNK: Garage Punk

Details:
Sick Sick Sister started in November 2000 in the freezing attic of 919 Moss Street, Peoria, Illinois. Forged by childhood friends/neighbors Ruth E. Yoder and Briana E. Hume, united in cigarette-smoking hatred of church, school, work, and their hometown, the band was originally called the Muddy Bloods. This was a generic Peoria name designed to parody local “legends” Mudvayne and formidable yet geriatric punkrockers Bloody and the Veins. The Muddy Bloods scored two solid hits with “The Happy Song” and “The Kill Song” (later known as “I Hate It”) and featured Ruthie and Briana switching instruments.

Tragically, Briana died in October 2001. Ruthie wheeled her worldly possession, a Peavey Transtube amp, onto an Amtrak train bound for Portland, Oregon, never to return.

The next three years were spent writing songs, meeting potential bandmates, and generally trying to make it in a new city. Sick Sick Sister went through two complete lineup changes and recorded several demos. In January 2007, Ruthie met Melissa (of Order of the Gash and, ironically, Sickie Sickie). The two understood they both realized the same musical aesthetic. Through Melissa they recruited Adrianne Sharrock for drummery and comic relief.

In September 2007 Ruthie, Adrianne, and Melissa recorded an eight-song album, My Friend My Enemy, with *winner* of Pom Pom Meltdown, at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls. The following month they joined forces with Julie Jolliff of Massive Meat Split and played several shows as L7 impersonators. Melissa, Ruthie, and Julie also play in Sei Hexe.
