Brian J. Knox: A studied jazz and classical pianist, Brian took bold steps in creating a new texture for reggae keys. Jan Christiansen: The origins of his love for hand drums stems back to his first visit to Senegal. An ardent student of roots and culture, an embracer of international influences, Jan is forging new applications for old school rhythms. He adapts and extends Afro-Cuban and Nyabinghi skills with personal flavorings, adding the roots to this roots reggae band. His powerful stature and commitment to direct action imbue the group with lively energy. Often a serious musician closes the eyes and allows the music to possess, leading the musician through newfound motions and techniques. Jan does this naturally.
J Nick Mendoza: Simply born to play the kit, Nick drops amongst the heaviest and most intricate beats known to humankind. His collection of Led Zeppelin, The Police, The Beatles, Mana and even Fugazi, hints that Nick''s influences may alter the face of reggae and dancehall drumming as we know it. Partial to intricate syncopations and solid fills reminiscent of the one-drop, Nick always unearths fresh rhythms for people to get down to.
