ROCK: Roots Rock, REGGAE: Roots Reggae

Details:
David Linhart: Influenced by the timeless reggae gospels of roots and dub, delicate bossa novas and cool-out crooner''s jazz, David orchestrates an ebb and flow of impulse, insightful compositions that explore spiritual themes. With his guitar skanks and noodles, soulful vocals and explosive stage presence, David energizes and communicates.

James Curwood: Sharing his initials with one of the world''s most profound horn players, James sports his love for Coltrane above all; however, he learns equally from many classic jazz cats. Able to portray the emotions of full songs in single phrases, James proves to be an ever valuable tenor saxophonist in the realm of renewed roots reggae. He has a genuine ability to compose sincere horn melodies, premeditated or on the fly, and then relax their delivery ever so slightly to create a patient caress. His calming demeanor always radiates positive vibes.

Brian J. Knox: A studied jazz and classical pianist, Brian took bold steps in creating a new texture for reggae keys. Lovingly dubbed the Locksmith, he finds his biggest source of inspiration from the late and great Augustus Pablo. Brian takes this love seriously, introducing the haunting dubbed out melodica into many of the band''s tunes. His masterful sense of tonal theory, along with his scientific dub skills, have added layers and layers of harmonic ambience to The Uplifters style.

Jan Christiansen: The origins of his love for hand drums stems back to his first visit to Senegal. An ardent student of roots and culture, an embracer of international influences, Jan is forging new applications for old school rhythms. He adapts and extends Afro-Cuban and Nyabinghi skills with personal flavorings, adding the roots to this roots reggae band. His powerful stature and commitment to direct action imbue the group with lively energy. Often a serious musician closes the eyes and allows the music to possess, leading the musician through newfound motions and techniques. Jan does this naturally.

J Nick Mendoza: Simply born to play the kit, Nick drops amongst the heaviest and most intricate beats known to humankind. His collection of Led Zeppelin, The Police, The Beatles, Mana and even Fugazi, hints that Nick''s influences may alter the face of reggae and dancehall drumming as we know it. Partial to intricate syncopations and solid fills reminiscent of the one-drop, Nick always unearths fresh rhythms for people to get down to. His keen wit adds the humor to the band''s most serious mission.

Jonathan Siegel: Delivering solid, driving bass runs, Jon hones in on his melodic and lyrical riffs to renew the dubwise sounds. Raised on many of the same influences as Nick, Jon introduces melodic and pounding bass rhythms that compliment the intricate beats. Always adhering to the natural heartbeat, yet bending the traditional laws of reggae, Jon composes lyrics and progressions that prove to be alluring and progressive. He is ecstatic to be exploring a music that pushes bass to the forefront.
