Details:
These songs came to me during the years that I was discovering how to create relationships based on two whole, healthy people relating to each other rather than on the “two halves make a whole” idea. I was deepening my connection to Spirit and to the Earth and the insights they brought me have served me well during some personally extremely challenging times.

I’ve discovered through the years that I’m a “songcatcher” rather than a performer. I absolutely love receiving a new song and creating a form for it, working with it, arranging it, sharing it occasionally when it speaks to people and the processes they are experiencing in their own lives. To me "catching" a song is like unwrapping layer after layer of a wonderful present, discovering what IT wants to be.

My intention in sharing these songs is to support all of you who are going through your own big life changes and shifts and explorations in your relationships to other people, to Spirit, to your soul, and to the Earth. These are powerful and empowering songs that I think could benefit lots of people who are opening and growing.

I hold a vision of them being discovered by true performers who can get them out to the world in a much bigger way than I can.

All these songs were originally recorded in my home studio back in the days of tape cassettes and I recently had them converted to CD format so that they wouldn’t be completely lost. Nigel, my sound engineer here in Dunedin, NZ assures me they are the best quality possible without my going back and re-recording every song digitally - which will never happen! My life has evolved in a totally different direction of using singing and sounding to work with earth energies, focusing on creating personal and planetary well-being.

My inspiration for these songs:

Celebrate Love (1996) - a dear friend who taught me by his example about sticking with a situation and going deeper when things got difficult, rather that giving up easily and just walking away.

Weaving the World (1995) - this song came to me while I was sitting out in the desert near Sedona, Arizona waiting for the 12 - 12 ceremony that was held there in 1995.

Rainbow Bridge (1996) - a dream in which the man and the woman had to let go of all the old heavy stuff they each carried in order to become light enough to walk out and meet each other on the Rainbow Bridge.

Free To Be Me (1990) - a dream in which I ran full tilt towards a man imagining that he would catch me and keep me safe and take care of me, only to find that he used my momentum to lift me up so that I went soaring through the air, landing on a concrete slab, shaken but unhurt. This dream came after I had invited a new (male) friend to offer a joint concert with me and he refused, saying that was “my thing”, not his. When I went ahead and organized it anyway, he agreed to come a sing a couple songs with me - just as I had wanted in the first place.

Rainbow’s End (1995) - realizing I’d found myself and my place even though it didn’t look like what I had expected

I’m Ready To Love You (1993) - opening to a spiritual partner

Dare To Dance (1991) - wondering if I could keep a relationship that was really important to me if I was true to myself

Song of the Dolphins (1995) - written as a birthday present for a friend who dearly loved dolphins.

Two years ago I was on a ecotour boat when the boat captain was going on and on about all the negative things that were happening in the area and I started singing this song silently to myself to counteract heaviness and discord his comments were causing. He had told us that a couple of dolphins usually came to check out the boat briefly and then would swim on by, so to watch out for them so we didn’t miss them.

Someone yelled that the dolphins had arrived and I felt like something (non-physical) grabbed my solar plexus and hauled me out to the railing and I sang this song at the top of my lungs. Lots of dolphins had come and were swimming around the boat, jumping out the water and having quite a nice visit with us.

The captain looked at me and said that in all the years he been leading these tours that had never happened before, and called me “the dolphin lady”. I told this story to a Maori woman I met later and she said the dolphins had come to help me shift the energy in the boat. What a joyful blessing for all of us!

I Choose You (1996) - written as a birthday present for a dear friend who had a dream where a whale approached her and transformed itself into a man and shared important words of wisdom

*The Next 7 Generations (1995) - the Native American concept of considering the effects of any contemplated action upon the next seven generations before taking any action

*This Child (1990) - a baby shower present for friends at a time when I was choosing to let my own precious daughters go into the primary care of their father and step-mother

*My Little One (1990) - being “adopted” by a couple who totally acknowledged and supported my creativity and deeply nourished my reconnecting with my inner child and exploring what my true soul Self wanted to do and be.

*Happy Birthday (1997) - I woke up on the morning of my birthday with this song, a birthday present to me from my “angels”. I think it would be lovely if every newborn were greeted by this song being sung to them by people who really meant what they were singing.

Come Be With Me (1995) - written to use as an invocation at the concerts I was giving in those days

*These songs are for the children, both inner and outer and all have double meanings for me. You can listen to them in terms of your inner child or in terms of real children in the outer world (your own or those of others). I would love to have teachers be able to listen to these songs on their way to school in the morning.
