Details:
As a self-taught guitarist, accomplished songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, artist, vocalist, painter, performer, designer and music producer, Matt is a rare talent that was born to entertain the world with his creative spirit and unparalleled passion. With a wide range of influences, Matt is leading the pack while his band is forming a new style of rock music, known as evolution rock, with inspiration from jazz, funk, jam, classic rock, latin, reggae, gospel and soul. This band has taken the bridle off and is running full speed ahead with a sound and style that is clearly their own. No strangers to hard work and persistence this band knows what it takes to deliver a positive, uniting and upbeat message to a world that is often restrictive and pessimistic. The Matt Stansberry Band (MSB) is a musical phenomenon that is gaining momentum and recognition one fan, one performance, one song, one album at a time.

In the summer of 2002, Matt made his first attempt at taking his musical vision and putting it down on tape. He finished his first eclectic, solo project, Ruff Tracks 2002, shortly before leaving for a life changing semester in Europe. While living in Vienna, Austria, Matt vowed that he would not only dream of making music a career, but would take action, so he decided that when he returned home to Oklahoma he''d form a band around his original music, innovative style and creative vision. Sticking to plan, Matt immediately started booking shows, yet had no band members. In typical fashion, Matt put his faith in the idea that, “If you make it they will come”. The risk paid off and The Matt Stansberry Band was born. In a short period of time, Matt was able to pull together a great band of musicians he had played with in college jazz band. The group began playing many of the most sought after venues in Oklahoma City and developed a local following and strong reputation for their musicality.

When the band took first place at the Oklahoma State Fair Battle of the Bands in 2004, Matt knew he was on the right track and it would just be a matter of time before the band broke the surface and really took off. After the State Fair win, the band had a period of member shuffling and searching. So, when college friend and genius bassist, Denver Greene, returned from a year in Japan, Matt asked him to play with the band at an upcoming show. Denver accepted the offer with sincere enthusiasm, strolled into the gig and completely nailed the performance. Denver was added to the band within the following few weeks. Now having a phenomenal performer and dedicated bass player locked down, a position for a drummer with similar characteristics was on the band''s agenda. Matt looked no further than one of his dearest friends, Ben Tinius, who had played several shows with the group and had absolutely wowed the guys with his creative style and unmatched ears behind the set. Denver, Matt and Ben were already close friends and had performed countless shows in a school sponsored cover band for several years, so there was instant chemistry when they hooked up for the first time. Finishing out the band was Grant Stevens, a piano mastermind, who''d been with Matt since the band''s very first performance back in 2003.

As 2005 was quickly approaching the band began work on their first album, which would feature all original music that Matt had been cultivating over the past several years. The MSB''s first full-length release, The World Goes Up, took nine months to complete and was released on July 4th at their Bricktown Independence Celebration performance in downtown Oklahoma City. The band continued to play festivals, clubs and private parties across the state while picking up radio play and press around their latest accomplishment. Prior to the departure of Grant Stevens, longtime keyboardist, the band began to make regional stops in St. Louis, Dallas and Austin.

The band would finish out 2006 as a three piece. Initially, their was some apprehension about the minimalist approach, but the band became a completely new animal as a power trio. The songs began to take on a life of their own. There was more energy, determination and power behind them, so the guys decided to release a CD to try and capture this newly developed raw sound. The three piece disc would go on to be titled, Hall of Giants, in honor of the space in which they had recorded the project. Hall of Giants was recorded in just a few short months and with very little overdubs, to keep it sounding as “live” as possible. When the EP was finished the band produced a sold out CD release party in Oklahoma City and the band launched a regional tour playing in Arkansas, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri. During this time MSB was featured as the only Oklahoma band at the Heart of Texas Music Festival during South by Southwest, showcased at Dfest in Tulsa, performed on live television ("Good Day Tulsa") and continued to receive positive press and radio play, even picking up a nomination for "Best Group with Vocal" for their song Code Red at the LA Music Awards. The Hall of Giants Tour came to an end in Hollywood, California in 2007 as the band was praised for their knock-out performances while in LA.

"The best new band I''ve seen this year," said Tara Flynn, ABC Television.

"The Matt Stansberry Band could easily be the feature band on Saturday Night Live...they are that good!" said John Keating, star of the film Thanks for the Ride and seen on Comedy Central''s Mind of Mencia.

Closing out a successful 2007, MSB was looking for a fourth member to round out the band''s production needs for their upcoming projects. At the time a friend called up Denver and was curious about jamming with the group. The caller was Chris “Vern” Verner, a mutual friend of the band from college. The band jumped on the chance to explore the idea of working with him, as Vern had built a reputation around his ability to adapt musically, develop brilliant production concepts and melodic guitar work. The fit was so natural that in a matter of months the band had their entire next album ready for the studio.

Now with an international tour to Japan in March 2008 and a brand new album, https://www.tradebit.comnge., set to be released this year, The Matt Stansberry Band is taking control of their future and living the dream.

“''Cause we''ve still got hope. We got love. We got peace ya''ll. And, It''s showering down from above. We''ve got joy, we''ve got faith. We''ve got freedom. Yes, we do. And, I''m gonna use it. How ''bout you?” - From the chorus of We Want Change
