Details:
When helicopters* took time off from the road in 2003, the goal was irrefutably clear: write, fall in love with, break up with, destroy, build anew, polish, apologize to and ultimately put to bed enough songs to comprise their first full-length offering. That day has arrived.

helicopters: How to Fake Fall Asleep

Transcending the guitar-based rock of their past, helicopters have driven into the land of electronic pop and come out the other side quite interesting to categorize: too rock to be The Postal Service, too pop to be Beck, too modern to be 80''s, too happy to be Radiohead.

The album is a masterpiece of lush pop, sonic experimentation, and catchy-as-hell melodies that defies comparison and demands attention. helicopters is pleased to present How to Fake Fall Asleep. Be good to her.

* Jason Caldeira and David Moran met via mutual friends in 1997 and immediately began performing as an acoustic duo. Informed more by the sounds of Soul Coughing than Nick Drake, the duo took their sound from coffee houses to pubs to larger clubs, pushing the boundaries of acoustic pop. In the days when everyone emulated the Dave Matthews Band, Moran and Caldeira took a left turn and chased a different muse altogether. Then, in 1999, the pair was joined by Gregory McClendon on bass guitar, and a Spinal Tap-ish rotation of drummers soon ensued. In 2003, upon checking themselves into the studio, the band purged their past and plummed their future to change sound so drastically they wouldn''t be the same again. A change was needed, and helicopters was born.
